To ensure their industry-leading position in the nuclear renaissance, Westinghouse embarked on a knowledge retention program with many of their senior engineers. Using our knowgraphy services, we helped Westinghouse capture tacit and undocumented knowledge that will enable future generations of nuclear engineers to accelerate their achievement of expertise.
Considering our knowgraphy approach the industry leader, a public utility in the Northeast selected Perigean Technologies to train a core group of key professionals picked from across the organization. Following an initial knowgraphy trainer five-day workshop, we continued to support the expansion of this utility's knowledge management capabilities through coaching and technical consultation. Our program lent strength to their overall sustainment during a time of exceptional potential knowledge loss due to retirements and other factors.
As part of its ongoing effort to help utilities make smarter use of their own knowledge, EPRI invited Perigean Technologies to participate in the execution of their Program on Technology Innovation: Accelerating the Achievement of Mission-Critical Expertise. We deployed our world3work services to capture ideas and knowledge discussed amongst cognitive scientists and utilities professionals. The findings we captured provided a partial basis for their Research Roadmap of the same name. (world3work services delivered through IHMC.)
When Southern Company faced the impending retirement of one of their resident experts, they turned to Perigean Technologies to help capture the expert's intimate technical and historical knowledge of safety analyses and regulatory requirements. Working with the expert, his designated replacements, and our knowgraphy services, we created a robust Knowledge Model of his most critical expertise, and simultaneously enabled an efficient knowledge transfer. (knowgraphy services were provided through Ceryph Inc.)
Seeking more effective and efficient means to facilitate crisis response, the US Army Research Laboratory's Human Research and Engineering Directorate (ARL HRED) created a program to design and evaluate a virtual collaboration environment to support a crisis response community of interest during crisis action planning activities. ARL selected our Applied Concept Mapping services to explore the potential and boundary conditions of Concept Mapping for planning in virtual environments. This project is featured in our book, Applied Concept Mapping.
Already masters in the practice of Cognitive Task Analysis, CPG sought to add Applied Concept Mapping to their toolkit of techniques that provide them access to expert thinking. We tailored a three-day Cmapology workshop to fit their organization's business focus and busy schedule, introducing their staff to new applications of Concept Mapping and tricks-of-our-trade using CmapTools.
When the Netherlands Organization for Applied Scientific Research (TNO) sought organizational clarity in preparation for the technical audit processes required by the Dutch government, they consulted our partners, the Institute for Human and Machine Cognition, and Perigean Technologies. Our maportaits services enabled TNO's management to crystalize and capture the core mission and capabilities of several of its departments, thereby enabling a shared understanding and focus for the audit. This project is featured in our book, Applied Concept Mapping.
When the US Marine Corps looked to Sandia National Laboratories to explore improvements to its advisory team training program, Sandia tapped Perigean Technologies to support its discovery program. We provided Sandia and the USMC with a view of the emergent expertise in the advisory role, a new mission unlike any other in the Marine Corps. We also demonstrated a number of potential applications for Concept Mapping, resulting in immediate impact on the USMC's training program.
When General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems were looking to enhance the way the Intelligence Community conducts structured brainstorming, they partnered with Perigean Technologies. Our knowgraphy services provided General Dynamics an insightful perspective on the process by which brainstorming is conducted today, insights that are driving the development of technologies to enable collaborative and efficient brainstorming sessions for today's and tomorrow's intelligence professionals.
When the Federal Bureau of Investigation needed to quickly collect the technical and operational expertise emerging in a small team leading the rapid development of its biometric quick capture platform, the Bureau called on Perigean Technologies. Through our KnowledgeScaffolding services, we delivered an operationally-ready training module in less than 80-manhours. The module doubly served as an integrated interface for the platform's interdependent components, thereby reducing error-rates and mitigating a serious potential risk of lost knowledge.
When the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency solicited innovative research concepts to enhance the military's ability to rapidly and accurately transfer ideas, they selected Perigean Technologies' proposal to consider Concept Maps as the solution. Along with our research partner, the Institute for Human and Machine Cognition, we demonstrated the value of Concept Maps for knowledge transfer, and a preference for presenting with Concept Maps. Our findings appeared in the Proceedings for the 3rd International Conference on Concept Mapping.
When Cognitive Training Solutions needed a deep view into the expertise emerging around improvised explosive devices, Perigean Technologies brought our knowgraphy services to bear in the capture and analysis of volumes of data. We provided the US Marine Corps with deep insights into the intuitions at work that help save lives in dangerous places, and developed a new model for thinking about how the intuitions should be trained for the greatest effect.
When the Security Analysis and Risk Management Association (SARMA) sought a solution to the perennial challenge of an inconsistent terminology across the security profession, SARMA's leadership called in Perigean Technologies. Our fileive services positioned SARMA to reach consensus on a common lexicon analysis process that, when completed, will enable its public and private members to speak with a consonant voice. This project is featured in our book, Applied Concept Mapping.
When the National Contract Management Association (NCMA) sought a refined approach to envisioning the state of their association and its constituent profession in ten years, they sought Applied Concept Mapping to facilitate this element of their strategic planning process. Working with their planning documents and Association leadership, we enabled the NCMA to chart its future course with a clear vision of the critical challenges, emergent landscape, and key decision points in mind.
